Usually the physical presence of the camera, the lens the equipment that rises up between the photographer and the subject condition the resulting photograph and remains a strong influence on its reception by eh audience. The subject is usually outwardly aware of the inferring influence of the machine, but this is not so with Brennan’s work. These people seem to relate directly to her, not through the camera something that rarely happens to a photographer.
